EAM S. Jaishankar recently articulated India’s firm foreign policy stance at an all-party meet, unequivocally stating that ‘India can’t be a broker nation’. This assertion underscores a pivotal shift in how India positions itself on the global stage. The External Affairs Minister emphasized that becoming a ‘broker nation’ would compromise India’s strategic autonomy and independent decision-making capabilities. Instead of being a ‘broker nation’, India seeks to be a responsible global power, making its own choices for its national interest.
